FIR filed against UPPL’s President Promod Boro for “Spreading Misinformation” about Coronavirus

Suleman Narzary, a resident of Kokrajhar Rupathi Nagar, Assam filed an FIR against Promod Boro, the head of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), for “Spreading Misinformation” about Coronavirus in India.

FIR filed against supremo of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) on Monday under the IPC section 182, 505 (1) (b) for spreading false information on the COVID-19 Pandemic. According to the complaint who lodged the FIR against Bora said that during a television interview Bora had claimed that 30,000 people have been infected from coronavirus in India which is wrong information. As per Central Govt data, there are only 4200 plus Positive Cases in India as of now.

“We are facing a very bad time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Central and the State government urged the people not to make any faulty statement on COVID-19 and here we have the president of UPPL who is propagating false information,” Mr. Narzary said.

He further added, “I am compelled to lodge the FIR keeping in mind the common interests of the people of BTC. I have submitted the video footage of Bodoland Radab in Pen Drive to the Officer-In-Charge of Kokrajhar Police Station as a proof of evidence where Mr. Boro clearly stated that the Corona infected persons have crossed 30,000 in his local language on 5 April 2020.”
